Economic Benefits & Compensation | Environmental Impact

People have used wind energy for thousands of years. It is one of the cleanest energy resources on Earth. Windmills and wind turbines have been used for centuries. Yet, generating utility grade electricity has been expensive until recently. Now that new technologies are available, wind is competitive with coal and natural gas for electric power generation. Unlike fossil and nuclear fuels, wind has no pollutants and constantly renews itself.

Pennsylvania offers several productive areas for wind energy. Wind farm development provides new short-term and permanent jobs in those areas. As the coal industry continues eliminate jobs, the wind industry is beginning to create new ones. We are witnessing the start of a new energy industry in Pennsylvania based on a safe, renewable resource.
